Privacy Policy
reScribe
Effective October 30, 2026
reScribe is operated by Picturesque Sales LLC ("we," "us," "our"), a Florida limited liability company. This policy explains what information reScribe collects, how it is used, who it is shared with, and what control you have over it.
Questions about this policy: support@picturesquesales.com
1. Who can use reScribe
reScribe is for people 13 and older. You must be at least 13 to create an account or use the app. If you are under 18, you may use it only with a parent or guardian's permission. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 13, and if we learn that we have, we will delete it.
2. What we collect
Information you give us
- Your name and email address, provided when you create an account.
- Your password, which is handled by Google Firebase Authentication. We never see or store your password.
- Problem reports and support emails you choose to send us — what you write, plus the diagnostic log if you chose to attach one.
Recordings and content you create
- Audio recordings you make in the app, and audio files you import into it.
- Transcripts and summaries generated from that audio, including titles, key points, decisions, action items, speaker labels, and tags.
- Edits you make to any of the above.
- Scheduled meeting entries — the title, date, time, and reminder you set.
- Journal entries you speak, type or upload — the audio of a spoken or uploaded entry, your original words, and the tidied-up version and key points generated from them.
- Tags, moods and places on journal entries. These are optional. If you add a place to an entry, reScribe checks where your phone is at that moment so it can name the place and show the weather. We save the place name, the temperature and the weather conditions. We do not save your exact location.
- Photos you add to a recording, a journal entry or a recipe.
- Recipes and collections you write in, scan, or import from a link — including the link itself and the text we read from it. For a recipe video, the video's transcript is saved with the recipe.
- Questions you ask using the Ask feature — about one meeting, or across your meetings, journal and recipes — and the answers returned.
Information collected automatically
- Account and usage records necessary to operate the app, such as when a recording was created, its duration, and its processing status.
- Monthly usage — your transcription time and your number of recipe imports from social media videos — so we can show you how much of your plan you have used.
- Diagnostic logs stored locally on your device to help troubleshoot recording problems. They leave your device only if you choose to attach one to a problem report you email us.
- Technical records on our servers. Our servers keep short-term records of what happened, such as account and item numbers, timings, counts and error messages. We use them to run the service and fix problems. They do not include your recordings, transcripts, questions, titles or email address. For a Pinterest import they also include the address of the pin's picture. Server logs are deleted after about 30 days, and records of processing errors are removed when you delete your account.
- Saved on your device. So the app opens quickly, your recent meetings and their transcripts are saved on your phone. If you choose "Remember me," your sign-in is saved too. We also keep a small trial marker on your phone, described in Section 4.
What we do not collect
- We do not use third-party advertising or analytics services in the app, and we do not track you across other companies' apps or websites.
- We do not track your location. We use it only if you add a place to a journal entry, as described above.
- We do not access your contacts or calendar.
- We access your camera and photo library only when you choose to add a photo or scan a recipe page; we never read your photo library otherwise. Scanned pages are read on your iPhone — the photo of the page never leaves your device, and it is not kept.
- Documents you import as a recipe (a PDF, Word, Pages or text file) are read on your iPhone too — only the text in them is sent, as described below; the file itself never leaves your device and is not kept.
- We never receive your Face ID or fingerprint. If you turn on the app lock, your iPhone checks it and tells reScribe only whether it matched.
- We do not sell your information to anyone, ever.
3. Who your recordings and text are shared with, and why
To turn your recordings and journal entries into transcripts, summaries and tidied-up entries, reScribe uses two outside service providers. AssemblyAI receives audio and returns a transcript. Anthropic receives text and, for imported videos, still images, and returns summaries, tidied-up entries, recipes and answers. Anthropic never receives audio. Photos you add yourself stay in your account and are never sent to either provider. This is the core of the app, and it happens only with your permission: the app asks before anything is sent, and you can withdraw that permission at any time in Settings. If you do, you can still use the app and everything already in your account, but new recordings cannot be transcribed or summarized.
Both providers handle your information under their own terms and privacy policies: assemblyai.com/legal/privacy-policy and anthropic.com/legal/privacy. We send them only what is needed to do the work you asked for.
AssemblyAI — transcription and speaker separation
- The audio of a recording, an imported audio file, a spoken or uploaded journal entry, or a recipe video you import is sent to AssemblyAI, which returns a transcript with speaker labels.
- AssemblyAI deletes uploaded audio automatically. Deletion begins within 24 hours and completes within 48 hours.
- We have set the shortest transcript retention period their service allows, and we additionally delete each transcript through their API as soon as it has been saved to your account.
- We have opted out of AssemblyAI using your data to train their models.
- We have a Business Associate Agreement in place with AssemblyAI.
- Processing occurs in the United States.
Anthropic (Claude) — summaries, journal tidy-up, recipes, and the Ask feature
- Your transcript is sent to Anthropic's Claude model, through the Anthropic API, to produce the summary, key points, decisions, action items, tag suggestions, and photo titles (the model receives when a photo was taken, never the photo).
- A journal entry's words are sent to tidy them up and draw out key points, when "Tidy up my words" is on in Settings. With it off, a typed entry is sent nowhere.
- Recipe text — a page or post caption you import, a caption you paste, the text read on your iPhone from a page you scan, or the text of a document you import — is sent to pull out the ingredients and steps. A recipe page that already describes itself in a standard format is read without Anthropic at all.
- When you import a recipe video, still images from the video are sent to read any recipe text shown on screen. For a Pinterest pin, the pin's picture is sent for the same reason.
- Questions you ask, with the parts of your meetings, journal entries and recipes that match them, are sent to answer them.
- When you create a project with meetings, add meetings to a project or remove them, or tap Refresh brief or Re-suggest, the summaries and action items of that project's meetings (not their transcripts or audio) are sent to write the project's brief and suggested task order — and, when new tasks arrive in a project that already has an order, to place them into it.
- Anthropic handles this information under its own terms and privacy policy, linked above.
- Processing occurs in the United States.
Google Firebase — accounts, storage, and database
- Your account, recordings, transcripts, journal entries, photos, recipes, and settings are stored in our Firebase project, which runs on Google Cloud in the United States.
Google Fonts — typefaces
- The app loads some of its typefaces from Google, so Google receives your phone's IP address when they load.
Apple — purchases and place names
- If you subscribe in the iPhone app, Apple handles the payment and tells our server whether your subscription is active. We never see your card details.
- If you add a place to a journal entry, your iPhone uses Apple's location services to turn where you are into a place name.
MET Norway — weather
- If you add a place to a journal entry, our server asks the Norwegian Meteorological Institute's weather service for the temperature and conditions there. It receives your location rounded to about one kilometre. We do not keep it.
Stripe — web subscriptions
- If you subscribe through the web app, Stripe handles the payment. We give Stripe your account email and chosen plan. Stripe collects your card details and keeps its own billing records.
Links you import — when you paste a recipe link, our server fetches that page to read the recipe (the text and at most the page's recipe photo). For a recipe video, such as an Instagram, TikTok or YouTube post, our server fetches the video, sends only its audio to AssemblyAI for a transcript, takes still frames from the video, and reads the post's public caption. The transcript, the frames and the caption then go to Anthropic to pull out the recipe. The video and its audio are deleted from our server right after processing. We never store, show or share the video. The transcript is kept with the recipe in your account. If the video can't be used, we read the post's public caption instead.
We do not share your recordings, transcripts, or summaries with anyone else. We may disclose information if required by law, such as in response to a valid subpoena or court order.
4. Trying reScribe without an account
When you try reScribe without creating an account, we create a temporary anonymous account to hold that one trial recording. It is not linked to any personal information beyond the recording itself — no name, no email, nothing beyond what you record.
If you don't create an account within 30 days, that trial account and everything in it — the recording, its transcript, and any associated data — is automatically and permanently deleted. See "How long we keep things" below for the same detail. Creating an account at any point before then converts the trial into a permanent part of your new account, the same as any other recording.
To allow one trial per phone, reScribe leaves a small marker in your iPhone's secure storage, called the Keychain. It contains no personal information. iPhones can keep Keychain items after an app is deleted, so the marker may stay on your phone after you delete reScribe.
5. Notifications and reminders
Meeting reminders and recording alerts are created and delivered by iOS on your phone, not pushed from our servers. The same is true of the Live Activity that can show a recording's timer on your lock screen and in the Dynamic Island: your phone creates and updates it.
The meeting title you enter when scheduling is stored in your account so your schedule is available on any device you sign in to. The reminder itself, once scheduled, lives only on your phone.
You can turn each type of notification off in Settings, or turn off notifications for reScribe entirely in iOS Settings.
6. Email from us
We will email you about your account when necessary — for example, a password reset you requested.
In the future we may send occasional emails about new features, updates, or offers. If we do, every such email will include a way to unsubscribe, and unsubscribing will not affect your account or your ability to use the app.
7. How long we keep things
Audio recordings are kept for one year. Twelve months after a recording or a spoken journal entry is created, we delete the audio file. This keeps storage costs sustainable and limits how long sensitive recordings exist anywhere.
Your transcripts and summaries are kept indefinitely and are not deleted with the audio. After the audio is gone you still have the full transcript, the summary, the key points, the action items, and everything else, and you can still search and export them. What you lose is the ability to play the recording back or to reprocess it.
Trial recordings made without an account are kept for 30 days. If you don't create an account, everything from that trial — the recording, its transcript, and any associated data — is automatically and permanently deleted 30 days after it was made.
If a recording matters to you long-term, keep your own copy while the audio is still available.
Everything else:
- Transcripts, summaries, tags, and scheduled meetings stay until you delete them or delete your account.
- Journal entries (your words and their tidied-up versions), photos, recipes, and collections stay until you delete them or delete your account. Photos are not deleted with the audio.
- Your Ask conversation keeps your most recent 50 questions and answers until you clear it or delete your account.
- Your account information stays until you delete your account.
- Imported video files are deleted from our server right after processing, and the temporary result of an import is removed within about an hour.
- Technical records on our servers (described in Section 2): server logs are deleted after about 30 days, and records of processing errors are removed when you delete your account.
- Diagnostic logs live on your device, limited to the most recent recording sessions. They hold timings, file sizes, and technical events — never audio, transcripts, or titles. A log leaves your device only if you choose to attach it to a problem report you email us; we use it only to look into your report. Deleting the app deletes the logs on your device.
8. Deleting your account and your data
You can delete your account from within the app, in Settings. Doing so permanently deletes:
- Every recording, transcript, and summary in your account
- Every journal entry, photo, recipe, and collection
- Every audio file stored for you
- Your scheduled meetings, tags, and settings
- Your saved questions and answers, including your Ask conversation
- Your account itself
What may remain after you delete your account. If you subscribed through the web app, deleting your account also cancels that subscription, and Stripe keeps its own billing records. If you subscribed through Apple, deleting your account does not cancel the subscription; cancel it in your Apple ID settings. Server logs (see Section 2) expire on their own schedule. The trial marker described in Section 4 stays on your phone.
This cannot be undone. We do not keep a backup copy for you after deletion.
If you have trouble deleting your account in the app, email us and we will do it for you.
9. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to request a copy of the information we hold about you, to correct it, to delete it, or to object to how we use it. Residents of California, and of jurisdictions covered by the GDPR, have specific rights under those laws.
To make any such request, email support@picturesquesales.com. We will respond within the time your law requires. We will not charge you or treat you differently for exercising these rights.
10. Security
Your data travels over encrypted connections and is stored in the United States in Google Cloud, encrypted at rest. Server rules limit access to your recordings and transcripts to your own account; other users cannot read your data. Passwords must be at least 10 characters and are managed by Firebase Authentication, which we cannot read.
No system is perfectly secure. We cannot guarantee that your information will never be accessed improperly, and you use reScribe understanding that.
11. Your responsibility when recording others
reScribe records audio. Laws about recording conversations vary. In some places, including Florida, every person in a conversation must consent before it can be recorded. In others, only one person needs to.
You are responsible for knowing and following the law where you are and where the people you record are. We do not monitor what you record and cannot advise you on whether a particular recording is lawful.
12. Children
reScribe is not for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them. If you believe a child under 13 has created an account, email us and we will delete it. People aged 13 to 17 may use reScribe only with a parent or guardian's permission.
13. Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we will update the date at the top. If a change materially affects how your information is used, we will notify you in the app or by email before it takes effect.
